Strengthening the Foundations of Emotional Health in Early Childhood

BIO: Jayne D. B. Marsh, M. S., M. A.

An Early Childhood Specialist and Educator with over 30 years experience in the field of early childhood in a variety of settings.

Ms. Marsh currently is one of three Infant Mental Health Trainers in the state of Maine sanctioned by the Maine Association of Infant Mental Health teaching an Infant Mental Health Introduction course. She additionally is a Professor at USM:Lewiston-Auburn College (LAC) in the Social Behavioral Sciences (SBS) Early Childhood Studies Program, and provides Professional trainings / workshops at USM Center for Continuing Education in Portland, Maine. Her areas of interest are early childhood, emotional health, infant mental health, attachment, resilience, assessment and intervention, parenting and reflective practice. Ms. Marsh also facilitates parent education groups, support groups, and reflective practice groups. She presents early childhood topics at local, regional, state, national and international conferences / institutes.

Ms. Marsh was involved in the development of the AIMS System of Practice as a Research Associate at the University of Southern Maine (USM), Muskie School, Child and Family Institute. She directed AIMS projects for several years and worked on other projects related to early childhood, such as the Parents in Partnership project which focused on families who have children with special needs, for which she is the Editor of, From the Heart: On Being the Mother of a Child with Special Needs, published by Woodbine House; and a private foundation project which focused on impacting the moral development of preschool children through the reflective practice of their teachers.
